The Tour de Cure is a journey like no other – an annual non-profit event that sees a group of every day people cycle from one part of Australia to help find a cure for cancer. Having cycled from Brisbane to Sydney in 2007 and Melbourne to Sydney in 2008, the Tour de Cure has already raised more than $1 Million for the vital work of Australian cancer charities, including Camp Quality, the Cancer… Council, the Leukemia Foundation, the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

The Tour De Cure have just completed their Signature Tour 2012 which saw the Team ride from Brisbane to Mission Beach. BodyScience were proud to be a part of this fundraising event this year, with the  biggest Team yet and they were proud to announce that they hit their $2 million fundraising goal.

We supplied the team custom Athletic Longs and custom Long Sleeved Tops, to help them get through their ride. Check out the photos below, and great work to everyone involved!

I am a subscriber to Oxygen magazine where you advertise your proudcts.
I am in an Oxfam team #150 Angels with Attitude (www.oxfam.com.au)participating in this year\'s event.
We are putting together a HEALTH & FITNESS hamper to be raffled.
The 100km event is a test of endurance of both mind and body, however the fundraising aspect is proving to be the biggest obstacle.
We understand that business is tight everywhere, but we humbly ask if consideration could be given to providing \'anything\' for our hamper.
I have a verification letter than can be provided or you can view our team online at the site given.
We are health and fitness driven ladies trying to spread the word around. Kind regards, Tammy Fankhanel ANGELS WITH ATTITUDE team member.
........How could we say no to a hamper?
We also will deck the girls out in compression & supps for the event.
What a fantastic cause! What an inspiration...Team ANGELS WITH ATTITUDE

Thanks for the support of our event. The fashion parade was great success and the BSc prize pack helped raise funds on the day.

This is a pic of Cath Thiele – the event organizer. In the middle is winning bid on the BSc Prize and good friend of ours Trent Brumby. Next to him is Tom a burns survivor.  Tom was burned with boiling water at 4 months of age and has undergone 100′s of operations to release his skin as he grows. Tom works with Kids Foundation and helps other child burns survivors – a truly beautiful boy.

Thanks again for the support on the day Barb xxx

The girls modelled our new compression range on the day, as part of the fun. Looking good. It always great to again be involved with community sport looking to assist a great charity…helping others.

65k465ROSES Walk 2012

Mar, 06, 2012

Hello Nathan,

Well, the 65k walk is over for another year, over $150,000 raised this year (that’s over $550,000 in 5 years and plenty of blisters).

I completed this year in 12 hours (3am start – 3pm finish) and the heat was a major factor with only 35 people completing the whole event.

Once a gain THANKS for your support and look forward to meeting with you one day to discuss how BSC can assist for future events via website promotions and your ambassadors.

Have a great day

Pat Borg

South Africa & Australia. The Simunye Project is a non-profit organisation with a focus on improving educational facilities in rural South Africa.
The crew Mel asked us if we could help with their 24 hr swim fuel program…and Body Science came to the party. Asked to support 300 swimmers for 24hours with their sports nutrition. Nathan & I are really touched by the efforts of the Simunye Project. When we heard what this event was all about…and being 24hrs “we thought thats a big swim” , so we jumped on board to support the sports science program of the swim. The bottom line is we need this project to be successful so much needed cash is raised! Check it out http://thesimunyeproject.com .

Amazing. One of the trainers shaved about 2 feet of hair to raise $10,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation. We provided some BSc product for the charity raffle, with all money raised going directly to the Leukaemia Foundation. There were over 60 guests who attended the day.

A big thanks to Matthew Vasilescu www.mattvas.com.au for providing the attached snaps from the event.

Dan Ferris S&C coach (middle) for the Indigenous All Stars rocked up to supplement the boys. The Learn. Earn. Legend! Indigenous All Stars are coached by Laurie Daley.  NRL Chief Executive David Gallop said that the All Stars was destined to remain a key feature of each rugby league season and a powerful recognition of rugby league’s Indigenous athletes.

Which we think is great. Body Science is happy to be part of the team.

The Black Dog Institute

Jan, 30, 2012

The Black Dog Institute is a not-for-profit, educational, research, clinical and community-oriented facility offering specialist expertise in mood disorders – a range of disorders that include depression and bipolar disorder (formerly called ‘manic depression’). The Institute is attached to the Prince of Wales Hospital and affiliated with the University of New South Wales.

The Body Science Great Australian Swim Series via Ky Hurst is aligned with the Black Dog Institute’s “Exercise Your Mood” Program, with $1.00 from every entry going to their campaign. With Ky Hurst being youth ambassadors for the Black Dog Institute’s ‘Exercise your Mood Program’, this program focuses on depression and encouraging people to exercise to alleviate depression instead of relying on medication alone. Depression and mood disorders are an increasing concern in not just Australia but worldwide. After extensive research, the Black Dog Institute launched the awareness campaign, “Exercise your Mood” with the goal of promoting the benefits of regular exercise as an effective way to relieve and treat some forms of depression and lead a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

The Institute’s mission is to advance the understanding, diagnosis and management of the mood disorders by continuously raising clinical, research, education and training standards. In so doing, the Institute aims to improve the lives of those affected – and in turn – the lives of their families and friends.

The BodyScience Great Australian Swim Series is proud to support the Black Dog Institute and believe open water swimming is a great way to lead a healthy and active lifestyle and exercise your mood.  So take the plunge and get in the swim!
